STAR / SMCD / OPDB - NPROVS
NPROVS User Interface
EDGE Overview - Graphic display tools for validating collocations.
NPROVS routinely (daily) compiles co-located radiosondes and multiple satellite product suite collocations. These are processed into daily, weekly and monthly datasets for routine display and analysis usinf dediacted graphical evaluation tools. Two of these tools, Profile Display (PDISP) and NPROVS ARChive Summary (NARCS), are available for download and with respective datasets that offer users more detailed analytical capability than what is routinely provided in the monthly and long term plots. A thirds tool, Orbital Display System (ODS), provides STAR scientists more detailed analysis of the respective product suite orbital datasets (from which collocations are compiled). The ODS tool and datasets are not routinely available at this time but can be provided (Tony.Reale@noaa.gov)
PDISP ... display and analysis of satellite-minus-radiosonde vertical profiles (weekly).
NARCS ... display and analysis of satellite-minus-radiosonde long term trends.
PDISP and NARCS user guide information can be found on the NPROVS Documentation page.
Client and Dataset Downloads
Each application can be automatically installed onto your client computer where the Java Web Start application can launch it. If already installed, the Java Web Start application will first check to see if the display software has been updated on the web server. If so, it will automatically download the updated application. Then, it will launch the application from the client computer.
For PDISP the user must launch the utility and download the dataset(s) (among available weekly collocation datasets dating back to 2009).
For NARCS the user must launch the utility which automatically includes the summary dataset which is updated daily.
- ProfileDisplay - Launch ProfileDisplay and download weekly collocation data files..
- NARCS - Launch NARCS for generating long-term statistical trend plots
