Fuel Loading Data
Fuel loading is basically divided into live fuel loading and dead fuel
loading. The live fuel loading consists of foliage and branch biomass in
forests, shrub biomass, and grass (including crop) biomass, and the dead
fuel loading is composed of litter and coarse woody detritus. We developed
a MODIS
Vegetation Property-based Fuel System (MVPFS) for each pixel at a
spatial resolution of 1 km. Specifically, we derived live fuel loading by
combining allometric models and
MODIS data (percent vegetation cover, leaf
area index, and land cover types), Litter and coarse woody detritus from
vegetation types and model-based pools of litter and coarse woody debris.
