Michael Grotenhuis is a physical scientist in the GOES-R
Calibration/Validation Working Group (CWG). His research focus is geo-spatial
calibration, particularly on-orbit modulation transfer function (MTF)
measurements and geo-location/image navigation and registration (INR).
His other interests include Fourier analysis, super-resolution, image
deconvolution, and image processing. He received a B.A. in Physics with
an Astronomy Concentration from Cornell University in 2003 and an M.S.
in Physics from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in 2010. His
background also includes work with the Mars Exploration Rovers and the
SPIFI (South Pole Imaging Fabry-Perot Interferometer) instrument, as
well as electrical engineering employment with Rosemount, Inc., a
division of Emerson Process Management.
