The D.C. Circulator, a public bus system that provides inexpensive,
frequent service in downtown Washington, has six routes.
One route is a continuous loop on the streets bordering the Mall
(Independence Avenue, 4th Street NW, Constitution Avenue and 17th Street
NW, designated in purple on the map), stopping at each of the Smithsonian museums as well as the two
National Gallery buildings. The new loop buses will run every 10 minutes
and cost $1 a ride. Another route operates north-south between the
Convention Center and the waterfront via Chinatown and the Mall (red on the map). This
route travels up 7th Street, NW which is adjacent to the United States
Navy Memorial, located between 7th and 9th Streets, NW.
