This position serves as the Chief of the Oceanic Research and Applications Division (ORAD) located in the Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR), National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information Service. The Division is responsible for the development of a program focused on satellite ocean remote sensing research and applications including those related to marine ecosystems and climate. The incumbent of this position will assist the Director of STAR in establishing policies and priorities for selecting areas of research, locating potential funding sources, and developing strategic management and operating plans. As the Division Chief, the incumbent will manage the day-to-day activities of the office and identify improved processes; define and undertake individual research projects; promote the Division's program throughout the scientific community; and represent ORAD as a member of in-house, interagency and national and international committees, boards and working groups.
