Starting December 3, 2024, visitors to GOES.NOAA.GOV will be redirected
to the STAR
GOES Imagery site. If you have any questions about this change
or need assistance, please contact OSPO

they work in the newest versions of Microsoft Edge. If you are using
Internet Explorer, please try a different browser: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or
MS Edge are all supported.

0.86 µm - "Veggie" Band - 1 km resolution - Combining band 3 (a near-infrared or "reflective" band), along with the 0.64 µm ("red") ABI Band 2, will be used for detecting daytime clouds, fog, and aerosols and for calculating a normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), hence its nickname the "veggie" band.
Band 3 is a visible channel and is therefore black during nighttime hours.
