Global monthly Land surface temperature

The dataset contains global monthly-mean day-time and night-time land surface temperature averaged within 1 by 1 degree grid cells.
The source for the data is MODIS MOD11C3 product (MODIS Monthly mean land surface temperature at 0.05 degree spatial resolution)  
The dataset covers the time period strating January 2000. Currently the last month processed is December 2006.

Data files contain 180 lines with 360 pixels per line. The projection is 
latitude-longitude with the upper left corner of the first pixel of the first line 
positioned at 90N 180W. 

The naming convention:

global_modis_night_lst_mm_yyyy is the night-time temperature where "mm" is a two digit month number, and "yyy" is a four-digit year
global_modis_day___lst_mm_yyyy is the day-time temperature 

Temperature values are in degree K multiplied by 10 and written as 2-byte integer (Linux system was used)

Valid values are from 1500 to 3500 (150K to 350K)
9999 means undetermined

lst_map_1d.pro in the "images" folder is IDL code used to read data files and generate .png images of the land surface temperature
