FORMAT OF SURFACE SNOW DEPTH FILES SRF.yyddd : snow depth from first order and US cooperative stations yy: two last digits of the year ddd: day of the year CND.yyddd : Snow depth reports from Canadian climate stations Avaialble only for parts of 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2004 For more data contact Ross Brown (Canada) Each record in SRF file contains Latitude (north is positive) Longitude (west is positive, east is negative) Snow depth in cm Eleveation in m (? this should be checked). "0" elevation most often means "elevation unavailable" Station type ("1" is first order station, "2" is Coop station) I am getting snow depth data from first order stations already converted to whole inches (although original data are in cm). It seems, that 1 cm and 2 cm snow depth reported from first order stations is converted to 0 inches. Therefore it is better to use original first order stations snow depth reports avaialble at NCDC. Each record in CND file contains Latitude Longitude (here west is negative, don't confuse with SRF where western lon is positive) Snow depth in cm ("T" after 0 cm means traces of snow) Station code
