Cooperative Research Programs (CoRP)
Grants & Cooperative Agreements
STAR/CoRP is the hub for all NESDIS grants, and has the
primary responsibility of managing cooperative institute (CI)
awards for NESDIS. This responsibility includes oversight of
the initial CI competition process, CI project(s) performance
report(s), funding of the CI throughout the award period,
and managing the renewal process and termination process,
if necessary.
CoRP manages two of NOAA’s Cooperative Institutes, and
provides funding support to other NOAA CIs including the
OAR-managed Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere.
CIs provide NOAA with a long-term collaborative
relationship that supports our mission, goals, vision,
objectives, and strategic plans through a cooperative
agreement. CI scientists work with federal sponsors on
competitively funded projects responsive to NESDIS needs,
and the CIs contribute to STAR, NESDIS and NOAA by:
- Conducting applied R&D and R2O;
- Engaging users via education, training and outreach;
- Facilitating access to industry partners;
- Convening workshops and meetings;
- Serving as a workforce pipeline;
- Hosting federal scientists
