JPSS Meeting Block Schedule, (XLSX, 20 KB, 8/4/2017)

Dear Colleagues:

You are cordially invited to participate in the 2017 STAR JPSS Annual Science Team Meeting to be held 14-18 August 2017, in the Auditorium and Conference Center at the NOAA Center for Weather and Climate Prediction (NCWCP) in College Park, Maryland.

As the launch of JPSS-1 approaches, the theme of the fourth annual meeting will be "The Future with JPSS". We will explore the many ways that users within NOAA and outside of it utilize data made possible by the hard work of STAR JPSS scientists, as well as ways in which STAR JPSS can work to make the user experience better. Through this meeting we plan to accomplish the following objectives:

  • Review the progress of the STAR JPSS program over the past year and since launch and review the plans in the coming year, particularly as they relate to J1 post-launch activities;
  • Engage with users and other stakeholders such as NASA, OSPO, OSGS, JPSS Risk Reduction and Proving Ground, the JPSS Ground and Flight Segments, and industry partners.
  • Review recent progress in reprocessing the Suomi NPP SDR and EDR datasets conducted at STAR.
  • Enhance interaction between SDR and EDR teams and facilitate science and technical exchanges among the teams.
  • Hold splinter meetings with users to review and renew plans for improved utilization of JPSS products, especially with consideration of new capabilities of the J1 instruments.

Information on the agenda, registration, and participation in the open poster sessions will be released in the upcoming weeks. Please pass this invitation to colleagues who you feel might be interested in participating. We encourage those who can to attend in person, but for those who cannot, remote access via WebEx and conference call will be available, and all presentations will be posted on the website.

Respectfully,

Lihang Zhou
STAR JPSS Program Manager
