CREST-NESDIS Technical Meeting

A two day CREST-NESDIS Technical meeting will be held on 7-8 December
2009 at Silver Spring, MD on the theme "Decadal Environmental Remote
Sensing Science & Technology: NESDIS & CREST Visions".
The goals and objectives of the meeting are:
Discuss and expand the long existing partnership between
NOAA/NESDIS/STAR and CREST, and review NESDIS' research and
applications, future satellites, science goals, and the CREST program
and its accomplishments since its inception in 2001.
- Leverage and explore new opportunities
- Expansion of existing NESDIS-CREST research collaborations
- CREST Students' Mentoring by NOAA/NESDIS/STAR scientists
- Enhance/explore NOAA/NESDIS Scientists visits/exchange to CREST
- Joint seminars/webinars; short-course teaching/training
About 60 members (30 each from CREST and NOAA) are expected to attend
the 2-day meeting. Day one will be dedicated to the overview
presentations by CREST and NESDIS/STAR members followed by concurrent
breakout sessions on day-two. The meeting will end with a joint action-
item planning session to be chaired by Dr. Al Powell.

Climate and Air Quality
- THEME II:
Coastal Remote Sensing
- THEME III:
Land/Terrestrial Precipitation, Soil Moisture & Water Resources
- Theme IV:
Severe Weather and Hazards
- THEME V:
Education; Outreach and Professional Development
