HIMAWARI Land Surface TemperatureTeam Members: Peng YuBackgroundThe AHI sensors onboard Himawari-8 and Himawari-9 closely resemble the ABI instrument on the GOES-R series. To expand the spatial coverage of our Land Surface Temperature (LST) product, we applied the enterprise retrieval algorithm to the AHI sensors. Production of Himawari-8 LST began on November 23, 2021, and continued until December 12, 2022, when data from Himawari-8 ceased. This effort transitioned to the Near-Real-Time (NRT) generation of Himawari-9 LST starting on November 5, 2022. Currently, the Himawari LST product is generated at an hourly frequency with a latency of less than one day. More recently, this effort has been extended to additional sensors, such as Meteosat-12 FCI. Please note that all related results are considered experimental and are intended for evaluation purposes only at this stage. |
