Yunyue Yu 
			  photoYunyue 'Bob' Yu received the Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering Sciences from University of Colorado (CU) in 1996. He also possesses a BSc. degree in Physics from Ocean University of Qingdao (OUQ), China (1982), and a diploma of MSc.-equivalent in Advanced Physics from Peking University, China (1986).

During his tenure with Ocean University of Qingdao (1982-1993), he served as lecturer, and associate professor, and held leadership roles in multiple international corporation projects. From 1987 to 1993, he was a visiting scientist at University of Dundee (UK), Division of Atmospheric Research, Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Research Organization (CSIRO), and Colorado Center for Astrodynamics Research, University of Colorado (CU). In 1996 he joined the Earth Observation System Satellites program through Raytheon ITSS and George Mason University, and worked at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC).

Currently Dr. Yu serves as a physical scientist at NOAA/NESDIS Center for Satellite Applications and Research. He is chairman of land surface application team of the U.S. GOES-R Algorithm Working Group, and the LST and Albedo EDR lead of the U.S. Joint Polar-orbiting Satellite System (JPSS) program.
