STAR's Matthew Pennybacker Wins Best Paper Award at SPIE Conference

10 May 2019 - This year's SPIE Ocean Sensing
and Monitoring conference's Best Paper Award for excellence in research and
presentation was awarded to Matthew Pennybacker of NOAA for
"Mitigation of the GOES-17 ABI performance issues in the NOAA ACSPO SST products".
The award was presented by Conference Chairs Will Hou and Bob Arnone.
The SPIE conference was held in the Baltimore Convention Center, Baltimore, Maryland, from
14 - 18 April 2019. Matthew Pennybacker, a contractor with GST, has been
with STAR since 2017, and works in the Satellite Ocean Sensing Branch.
His paper, "ACSPO collated-in-time geostationary SST from GOES-16/17 and Himawari-8",
was co-authored with Irina Gladkova, Olafur Jonasson, Alexander Ignatov, and Yury Kihai.
