Congratulations to 'Sammie' Finalist Coral Reef Watch's Mark Eakin11 May 2021 - The Partnership for Public Service has released the finalists for their prestigious Service to America Medal (Sammie), which honors exceptional accomplishments within the Federal service. Nominated in the Paul A. Volcker Career Achievement Category, Mark Eakin, Ph.D., current team member and former coordinator of NOAA Coral Reef Watch at NESDIS STAR. Mark is being recognized for leading the development of a satellite-based monitoring system that provides accurate forecasts and early warnings to environmental officials worldwide when rising ocean temperatures threaten the health of coral reefs.
