24 August 2022 - 2022 Cooperative Research Programs (CoRP) Science Symposium: This year's CoRP Science Symposium was held at CIRA, Fort Collins, Colorado, from 25-27 July 2022. The Symposium had 68 participants from NOAA/NESDIS, NESDIS Cooperative Institutes (CI), and CI-affiliated students, postdocs, and junior scientists. The Symposium is part of a larger strategy to promote federal and academic partnerships/ collaborations.

This year's Symposium focused on building stronger connections between NOAA's Cooperative Institutes and Cooperative Science Center (CSC) faculty and students to promote a more diverse NOAA workforce in the future. Thirteen graduate students gave oral presentations and eleven graduate students presented posters about their research. All student presentations were of high quality and were very well received. There were also NOAA NESDIS and CI Leadership presentations and several career development and support sessions, including small group social events, a workshop to develop a support network, and two mentor panel discussions where panel members talked about their career path experiences and answered student questions.

A Drone Center Activity on Tuesday afternoon offered the opportunity for the participants to learn how to fly drones used by Colorado State University to take atmospheric measurements that turned out to be a real highlight. The Symposium ended at noon on Wednesday, July 27th, with student awards handed out for the three Best Student Posters and three Best Student Oral Presentations.
