February 12, 2024 - The OWW experiment commenced with the arrival of STAR and Aircraft Operations Center staff in Anchorage on January 19 aboard the NOAA P-3 “Kermit.” The team was comprised of 3 STAR scientists and 17 Aircraft Operations Center (AOC) staff. This season’s objectives are to: validate and improve ocean winds and ice products, test new remote sensing methodologies, and characterize the air-sea interface in the extremes. The experiment was conducted in close collaboration with the NWS Alaska Regional Operations Center, who supported the flights via daily weather briefs.
