Purpose and Goals
This is the fifth Suomi NPP Environmental Data Record (EDR) product
maturity review to provide a forum for discussion on the readiness of
various EDR products to achieve the next maturity level according to
the SNPP maturity schedule. This particular review follows and builds
on the outcome of the SNPP Sensor Data Record (SDR) Science and
Products Review held on December 18-20, 2013 with a focus on readiness
for Validated maturity status of the SDR products.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss readiness for Validated
Stage 1 status for the following EDR products: VIIRS Cloud Mask (VCM),
Imagery, Ice Surface Temperature, VIIRS Snow Mask and Sounding; and
Provisional for Cloud Properties, Surface Type, Sea Surface
Temperature and Ocean Color. The expected outcome is a recommendation
from the EDR review panel and EDR leads to the Algorithm Engineering
Review Board (AERB) that the current products are at the given
maturity level, or scheduled changes already approved by the AERB will
result in a provisional quality EDR data products. If the data product
is determined to not yet be at the given maturity level, this meeting
will identify the path forward to achieve this level.
Meeting Outline:
- Detailed report by the EDR product lead or co-lead on the EDR
product team's algorithm development and validation results, the
team's arguments and recommendation on Validated 1 or Provisional
maturity status and planned further improvements.
- Reports by downstream EDR product team leads on the dependencies
and impacts on their respective products, as applicable
- Reports from product end users on their assessment as
applicable.
- Open discussion on product issues.
- Closed session by the review panel.
- Review panel feedback with a recommendation on Validated 1 or
Provisional maturity status, as applicable, and on necessary actions
for achieving the given maturity status, if necessary.
