Ellen Buckley started working with the Sea Ice and Polar Dynamics Science Team at the NOAA Laboratory for Satellite Altimetry in Fall 2017. She is a PhD student at the University of Maryland, College Park, in Atmospheric and Oceanic Science, and is advised by Dr. Sinead Farrell. Ellen is interested in the remote sensing of sea ice using data from the NASA ICESat-2 mission. Ellen received a bachelor’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Virginia in 2014 and a master’s degree in Environmental Fluid Mechanics and Hydrology from Stanford University in 2015.

Julia M. Ruth is an undergraduate at the University of Maryland, College Park, MD, USA due to receive her B.S. in Physics in May 2014. From June 2012 to August 2012, Julia completed an internship in the Cryospheric Sciences Laboratory, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD, USA. Since October 2012, she has been with the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center at the University of Maryland based at the NOAA Laboratory for Satellite Altimetry, College Park, Maryland, completing an internship in remote sensing of sea ice. Her research interests include active remote sensing, signal processing, and polar climate change. In April 2014 she received a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship and intends to pursue graduate study at the University of California San Diego Scripps Institution of Oceanography.

Marissa E. Dattler is an undergraduate at the University of Maryland and is due to receive her B.S. in Atmospheric and Oceanic Science in May 2016. Ms Dattler is interested in cryospheric studies, and specifically the geophysical properties of snow and sea ice. She is currently an undergraduate research assistant with the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center (ESSIC) at the University of Maryland, working with the Sea Ice Research Group at the NOAA Laboratory for Satellite Altimetry, College Park, Maryland.

Kyle Duncan joined the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center at the University of Maryland in January 2015, and is based at the NOAA Laboratory for Satellite Altimetry, College Park, Maryland, as a Faculty Research Assistant. Kyle earned a B.S. degree in Physical Sciences from the University of Maryland in 2011 and received an M.Sci. degree in Geology from the University at Buffalo in June 2015. His main research interests include active remote sensing, laser altimetry over sea ice and ice sheets, and the impact of polar climate change on the Earth's climate system.
